Where do you teach, what do you teach, who do you teach, how long have you been teaching?

I teach app development at Prospect High School. I teach freshmen through senior students interested in Computer Science. I have been teaching high school for ten years.

Outside of the classroom, what are a few things that you do which make you unique or motivate you?

I worked last summer to make Mobile Makers’ curriculum even better. I enjoy reading and staying current with the industry to make my students successful.

What’s your connection to Mobile Makers? Why do you love teaching students how to develop apps?

I was trained by Mobile Makers two years ago.  I love teaching my students the skills I learned via Mobile Makers. The joy they show when they create an app and seeing “build successful” is priceless.

Star Wars, Star Trek, or both?

Neither, sorry!!!! My students will not be happy with that!, I’m more of an X-man or Iron man fan!

What inspired you to teach the Mobile Makers high school course?

Computer Science is needed in high school; any stat/article will prove that.  App development is a way to gain high school interest.  High Schoolers love their phones and using apps.  Mobile Makers allows students to create apps while learning computer science.

What do you say to aspiring developers?

What words of wisdom do you have for future Mobile Makers high school teachers?

Enjoy it and dive in.  You are able to create apps that you can use or others can download to solve a problem!

Share a final nugget of knowledge about anything you want.

“In fact, when Warren Buffet was once asked about the key to success, he pointed to a stack of nearby books and said, “Read 500 pages like this every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it.”
